What this site collects

Almost nothing. This is a personal website, and the only things it measures are a rough count of page visits, so I get a sense of which writing is being read, and how quickly pages load, so I can tell when something is slow.

Analytics

Those counts come from Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, doesn’t follow you across other sites, and doesn’t build a profile of you. It records only anonymous, aggregated data such as page paths and referrers, never anything that identifies you personally.

The loading times come from Vercel Speed Insights, which Vercel designed so that the measurements are not tied to any individual visitor or IP address, and store nothing that would let it follow you from one page to the next. Each measurement is a timing your browser already produces while drawing the page, such as how long the largest piece of content took to appear, recorded alongside the page path and coarse context: country, browser, device type and connection speed.

No cookies, ads or third parties for tracking

There are no advertising trackers, no marketing pixels, and nothing is ever sold or shared. The only cookies this site sets are strictly-functional ones that keep you signed in to private, gated areas. They are essential to the site working and are never used to track you. Your analytics preference is saved in your browser’s local storage, not a cookie.

Your choice

Because the analytics is anonymous and cookieless, there is very little to consent to, but you can still switch it off for this browser whenever you like, and I’ll remember your choice.
